Many in the software industry use these terms interchangeably and therefore, incorrectly. Because, they are not at all the same thing. In this article Software as a Service (SAAS) is addressed. Applications such as Facebook, Gmail, and VoIP are all SaaS platforms on a cloud of servers. This article goes to clarify that SaaS platforms that are purposely built from the ground up are then often referred to as “Hosted” Solutions.

Post-PRISM, it’s possible demand will increase for IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) clouds that are physically located in specific countries that meet national standards and that are owned by local companies.
